LEILA DU TOIT

The bus journey out to Manu was a little treacherous, passing across some mountain road which was in need of repair! The boat journeys were great, giving perfect opportunity to see the birds & wildlife. The lodges we stayed in were all fabulous, starting off with the most basic & working up to the ´luxury´ Tambo Blanquillo. Those in the reserve zone definately allowed us to feel at one with nature. I was amazed at the quality and variety of food we were given over the 7 days, especially when we were staying deep in the reserve zone. We were definitely treated like kings! The guides were great, especially Nico with his enthusiasm and knowledge at the wildlife in Manu. Being in a large group of 7, it must have been difficult to ensure we all saw what we wanted to see, but Nico was very well organised. I thouroughly enjoyed my trip to Manu, it was a truely humbling experience, especially visiting the untouched reserve zone – it was so serene and beautiful. From the moment we left Cusco I felt like I was in safe and good hands, which allowed me to enjoy the experience more. Would have enjoyed more night hikes though. Will definitely recommend Pantiacolla to others, Manu has to be seen!!
