Pantiacolla has her lodges designed to blend in with their beautiful environment. Built mostly with natural materials, they have the air of the very deep tranquility that only nature can give us.  At the same time, the lodges have comfortable rooms for a well-protected rest during the jungle nights. Pantiacolla has built her lodges taking all aspects of low environmental impact into account, and since 2010 we are part of the Rainforest Alliance program to formalize our ecological practices to the best international standards.

Located at about 6 hours driving distance from Cusco, between bamboo and short cloud forest trees covered with mosses and bromeliads, it has 4 bungalows with 2 rooms each, a beautiful lounge and separate toilets and hot-water showers. For a couple of hours each evening a generator provides light and the possibility to recharge your batteries. Temperatures are between 18C  (75F) during the day and 10C (65F) at night. Together with the high air humidity you will want to use the blankets Pantiacolla provides.

PANTIACOLLA LODGE

phpThumb generated thumbnail2 In between the Andes and the Amazon
You can reach Pantiacolla Lodge from Cusco in a 2-day expedition by car and boat down the Andes, or by a 45 minute flight from Cusco to Boca Manu, followed by 5 hour boating up the Alto Madre de Dios River. There are 4 bungalows with 2 rooms each with shared toilets and showers, and 1 bungalow with 3 rooms with private toilets and showers. The lounge exhibits many remains of animals found in the forest around Pantiacolla and also ancient pottery brought in by the explorers looking for the lost city El Paititi in the Pantiacolla Mountain Range. We only use candles for lighting; however, there is a generator to recharge your batteries. Temperatures are between 28C (82F) during the day and 20C (68F) at night. Between May and July, the temperature may drop to 18C (64F) during the day and 10C (50F) at night for a couple of days each month. One of the lodge’s many virtues is to have very few biting insects!

CAMPSITE SACHAVACA

phpThumb generated thumbnail4 In Manu’s Reserved Zone

Overland it takes 3-days of bus and boat travel to reach this most pristine part of Manu. You can also fly in 45 minutes from Cusco to the Boca Manu landings strip followed by a 6 hour boat trip up the Manu River. The Campsite is in between a lodge and tents: 8 little palm thatched platforms with mosquito screening all around are just big enough to house two comfortable beds. The shared showers and toilets and the lounge also are very simple, and completely built according the park’s regulations. We use candles for lighting. This place has no generator to not disturb its completely natural environment. Temperatures are between 30C (86F) during the day and 24C (75F) at night. Between May and July, the temperature may drop to 18C (64F) during the day and 10C (50F) at night for a couple of days each month.
